Coverage for Liability
Accidents happen, and if you are found to be at fault in a car accident, your auto liability policy will protect you up to your policy’s limit.
Accident Coverage
As the name suggests, collision coverage from Farmers is meant to protect you if you get into an accident. This includes situations where you could hit another car or something that isn’t moving and when another car hits your parked car.
Comprehensive Coverage
Comprehensive insurance will assist you in payment for damage to your car caused by floods, fire, storms, vandalism, and theft out of your control. It will pick up where collision insurance leaves off.
Coverage for Uninsured and Underinsured Drivers
Both uninsured motorist coverage and underinsured motorist coverage are meant to protect you if you get into an accident with a driver who is at fault but doesn’t have enough liability coverage.
Coverage for Medical Payments
Medical payments coverage is a common add-on to a policy that helps pay for medical or funeral costs related to an event that makes a claim.
Personal Injury Protection (PIP)
PIP can help people who have to pay for medical care or lost wages because of a claimable accident get some of their money back, up to the policy limit. Farmer’s PIP coverage is not available in all 50 states, so if you want a strong PIP policy, check to see if your home state is one of those that can get it.
Optional coverage choices
Farmers have a very long list of coverage plans that you can choose from. Here are some of the policy add-ons you can choose from to make your policy fit your needs:
Accident Forgiveness Insurance
If you buy this optional add-on, you won’t have to pay more for your policy if you have an accident every three years because the insurance company will pay for it.
Coverage for your specific equipment
Farmers’ Customized Equipment Coverage policy protects you up to your policy limit for any aftermarket additions to your car, like sound systems or custom wheels, that are not covered by standard auto insurance options. Farmers won’t let you get a customized equipment plan unless you already have both a collision and a comprehensive policy with them.
Full Coverage for the Windshield and Glass
Farmers offer a policy add-on for full windshield and glass coverage that gets rid of the deductible and pays for the out-of-pocket costs of glass repairs and replacements covered by the policy. If you want Farmers to replace your windshield completely, this windshield coverage is a great add-on.
Glass Buyback Coverage with a Deductible
The Farmers’ Glass Deductible Buyback Plan is a smaller version of the Full Windshield and Glass Coverage. If you need to file a claim, it will cut your deductible for windshield and glass repairs to $100.
Coverage for a Guaranteed Value
If your car is a total loss, the Farmers’ Guaranteed Value plan will pay an agreed-upon amount. This could be a good policy for you if you have a very valuable car, like one that is rare or old.
Loss of Use Insurance
Farmers’ Loss of Use policy add-on will pay for transportation costs like taxis, rideshares, car rentals, or public transportation while your car is fixed during a claim, up to your policy limit. Most people call this kind of coverage a rental reimbursement policy.
New Vehicle Replacement Insurance
New cars lose their value very quickly. Farmers’ new car replacement coverage will give you peace of mind knowing that if your new car is totaled in a claimable accident within the first two model years and 24,000 miles, it will be replaced with a new car of the same make and model.
Coverage from the original equipment manufacturer
This policy add-on is meant to cover the cost of using original factory parts while your car is being fixed during a claim. This coverage plan is a good choice if you drive a newer car and want to make sure the repairs are done well if you need to file a claim. If your automobile is further than 10 years old, you won’t be able to get the OEM coverage plan from Farmers.
Personal Umbrella Coverage
Farmers’ Personal Umbrella Coverage adds to an existing liability coverage plan. It helps pay for your legal defense costs and protects your assets from lawsuits that could happen if you are found to be at fault for an accident.
Spare Parts Insurance
Farmers’ Spare Parts Coverage will reimburse the cost of any replacement parts lost or damaged in a covered occurrence up to $750 if you keep a variety of spare parts on hand: people who own rare, classic and antique models like this plan.
Coverage for Roadside Assistance and Towing
If you take stuck on the side of the highway, this policy option will help cover the cost of roadside assistance services like towing, changing a flat tyre, unlocking your car, and giving you a jump start. Farmers’ Roadside Assistance is only available to policyholders, so you will need to sign up for a policy if you want to use this service.
Insurance Coverage for Collector Cars
If you possess a classic or collector car, Farmers offers a variety of insurance options that can be tailored to your needs to help protect your valuable investment.
In addition to the policies about spare parts, customized equipment, guaranteed value, and original equipment that we talked about above, you can talk to a local agent about adding special clauses that will help you with things like traveling abroad and leaving your car unattended.
Farmers suggest that people who own classic or antique cars talk to a local agent who can help them make a collector insurance policy that fits their needs.
Rideshare Coverage
Farmers’ new rideshare policy gives extra coverage to drivers for companies like Uber and Lyft that only offer limited coverage, leaving drivers vulnerable at certain times while on the job.
